About the Job

We are seeking a friendly and enthusiastic people-person to join our team at Hill of Oaks Caravan and Lodge Park to oversee the running of our shop and café.

This is a busy, customer-facing role, which includes preparing simple food and beverages and serving customers.

You will be expected to actively engage with all customers and visitors, providing an excellent level of customer service. It would be beneficial to have a good knowledge of the local area and the ability to talk enthusiastically with guests about what the Lake District has to offer.

Working Hours

The position is offered on a permanent contract and is available immediately.

During the off-peak season, you will be expected to work 37.5 hours per week over 5 days (Friday to Tuesday 09:00 - 17:00).

During peak season, you will be expected to work 49 hours per week over 6 days (Monday to Thursday 09:00 - 17:00 and Friday and Saturday 10:00 -20:00).

The peak season is a non-consecutive period of 11 weeks (school holiday periods) - 2 weeks at Easter, 1 week in May, 1 week in October and 7 weeks from late July to early September.

The park closes during January and February, and as such the shop and café will also be closed. Whilst there will still be out-of-season work to undertake, including preparation for the new season, you will be required to take a significant proportion of your holiday entitlement during this time.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth daily operations of the shop and café, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Oversee food production and preparation processes to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing customer enquiries and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Organise and maintain attractive stock display, stock rotation and replenishment.
  • Prepare hot and cold snacks and drinks to order in the café.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness at all times, working to COSSH and food hygiene guidelines.
  • Monitor inventory levels and place orders as needed.
  • Process payments, cash handling and cashing up.
  • Supervise shop staff, including training and scheduling.
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement strategies for improving shop efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Enforce health and safety regulations in accordance with company policies.
  • To undertake any other tasks required from time to time which may contribute towards the successful operation of the company.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of food production and hygiene processes.
